[San Francisco]: John Howell, 1972. Hardcover. Book fine, Dust jacket fine.. Edited and translated by Seán Galvin. An English translation of the manuscript in the Biblioteca Nacional in Madrid, IDEA COMPENDIOSA DEL REYNO DE NUEVA ESPANA, written in 1774. Illustrated with 23 full-page plates and a large reproduction of a map of New Spain by José Antonio de Alzate y Ramírez, published in 1768, placed in a pocket attached to the rear paste-down endpaper. Bound in the publisher's original blue cloth with the front cover and spine stamped in gilt. Dust jacket has chips and some small closed tears to the extremities, internally clean and bright.Dust jacket.
