Cynthia Maris was born on January 4, 1933 in New York City. Daughter of Howard Arthur and Sylvia Hazel (Wiener) Gross.Education: Student, Brooklyn Museum Art School, Brooklyn, 1947—1950. Student, Bard College, 1950—1952. Bachelor of Fine Arts, Yale University, 1955.
Master of Fine Arts, Pratt Institute, 1963.Career: Teacher art Baldwin School, Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, 1955-1958. Head art department Bentley School, New York City, 1958-1962. Coordinator art progressive, instructor North Shore Community Arts Center, Roslyn, 1962-1964.
Instructor art CUNY-Bronx, New York City, 1963-1964. Faculty Long Island University, Brooklyn, since 1964, professor, since 1975, chair art department, 1980-1986, senior professor, since 2009. Adjunct associate professor art Cooper Union, 1992—1999, adjunct professor art, 1999—2002.Lecturer, presenter in field.
Achievements: Cynthia Maris Dantzic has been listed as a notable artist, educator by Marquis Who's Who.
