About This Item
Inscribed by McHarg to title page : 'Beverly Ettinger/Ian McHarg/April 1996.' Spine is uncreased and square. The first few leafs are in the very early stages of coming loose from the perfect binding, but binding is sound overall. Former owner name to half-title but interior is else clean and unmarked. There is moderate shelf-wear, including edge-wear, a few small areas of creasing, and a one-inch area of adhesive remainder to front cover. While known for his work in urban planning, McHarg drew inspiration from the more private spaces of residential gardens. This skillfully designed and inventively illustrated book (the hand-drawn overlay maps are stunning) became an influential text for early permaculturists: McHarg critiques French Baroque gardening design as he commends the English picturesque style for working with nature rather than subjugating it. 197 pp.
