About This Item

Toronto: The Ryerson Press, 1961 'Despite The Distance' is the final volume of a trilogy about a group of Yorkshiremen who settled in the Cumberland district of Nova Scotia. Master story-teller Will R. Bird wraps his tale in authentic Maritime history, and gives an interesting picture of Halifax and the Cumberland district during the eventful years following the American Revolution. Tristram's story has some basis in fact, and shows why a number of leading Yorkshire families left the Cumberland area for unknown holdings in what is now Ontario. A clean, bright, respectable book in a pictorial dust jacket.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good.
