About This Item
New York: Simon & Schuster, 1968. Controversial account of a catastrophic supply mission to the USSR in 1942. In 1970, Irving and his British publisher were successfully sued by the officer on whom Irving pinned much of the blame for the failure; the book was withdrawn, but later reissued with revisions. The author, once a respected historian, went on to further controversy. First American edition, stated; hardcover in jacket, as pictured. Light wear to book & jacket, but with a waterstain affecting the lower boards, mostly the rear, staining the jacket, but having little effect on the book. Text clean & unmarked; xiv, [2], 337 pages; appendixes, notes on sources, index, b/w photos, maps. . First American Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Good. Octavo.
