Contemporary Full Leather Binding, recased with original spine onlaid. Gilt horizontal divisions and gilt title on spine. Illustrated Title Pages and Frontis Maps for both the Cornish and Devon Sections. ( Devonshire has vignette illus. of Lydford Cascade and Cornwall vignette illus. of Logan Rock.) Printed Title Page, dated 1832. Devonshire has 106 p. pages and Cornwall has 48. 11" Tall, 1.35 Kilos. The views are arranged with 2 plates to a page, printed on one side of the paper. Some light foxing in fore margins, little elsewhere. No inscriptions. Text pages clean. Hinges sound and text block firm. A few small bits of leather missing from rear board, probably due to insect damage. Weighs nearly 1.5 Kilos packed so shipping Outside UK will be a little extra. Size: 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall

London, Vernon and Wood, Poultry, 1805. broadsheet (26.8 x 21.2 cm). Engraved, originally hand-coloured map. A fine, detailed map of County Durham (and Tyne and Wear), including the towns of Durham, Newcastle upon Tyne, North and South Shields, Sunderland, Hartlepool, Stockton, Darlington, Middleton Teesdale, Wolsingham, etc., etc., and its hills, rivers, woods, coast line, etc., as well as some adjacent parts of Northumberland, Cumberland and Yorkshire. From the seldom-seen series, The Beauties of England and Wales; or, Delineations, Topographical, Historical, and Descriptive, of Each County. Engraved by J. Roper after a drawing by G. Cole. Vertical, median fold, small tea-stain and some marginal toning and creasing, signs of former mounting on blank rear; otherwise very good, complete. The Durham edition is rare - we found only two auction records.
