[Venezia, Giovanni Griffio] (In Vinetia : per Giouanni de Farri & Fratelli, 1545). FIRST EDITION 1545, Italian text, date and imprint from colophon. Small 4to, approximately 180 x 125 mm, 7¼ x 5 inches, large pictorial device of publisher Griffio on title page, a few historiated initials, leaves: [2], 3-62, [1] - errata, signatures: A-Q4 (Q4 blank), bound in full sheep, gilt lettered label to spine, gilt decoration to spine, marbled endpapers. Spine worn and rubbed, hinges rubbed and upper hinge slightly cracked, covers still firmly attached, covers rubbed and pitted all over, board just showing at corner tips, tiny chip to tail of spine and title label, early armorial bookplate on front pastedown and bookplate on front endpaper (Maximilian Joseph Pfeiffer (1875-1926, ambassador of the German Reich in Vienna 1921-1926), 3 small ink spots on title page, ink stains some quite heavy to top outer corner persisting to page 9 (see images), not affecting text, ink name on title page, small pale brown stain to page 14, some larger pale brown staining to pages 59-64 (see images) not obscuring text in any way and tiny chip to fore-edges of the same pages.
