Charlottesville, VA: Virginia Historical Society | University Press of Virginia, 1965. Hard Cover. Good+ binding. Large octavo. xvi, 586; [8], 587-1204 pp., frontises, ports, plates. First edition, thus. As issued, backed in publisher's cloth with cloth over boards; all plates are present as called for. A very nice set with a bit of minor shelfwear; the bottom edge of the textblocks have evidence of moisture exposure. This is primarily manifest as tideline on the bottom of the fore-edge of both textblock; very light evidence on the pages themselves beyond some minor waviness to the bottom margin of much of Volume II. Despite this, it remains a very presentable copy of an uncommon and valuable historical reference. A lengthy introduction by the editor as well as a sizable 50-page index.
