First edition in Spanish. 12mo oblong; [48pp]; color pictorial cloth over board; illustrations in black and green throughout text; unclipped color pictorial dust jacket, rear flap has brief bios of author and artist, chipping to head and tail of spine, light finger soiling at edges; fine in very good plus dj. First printed in New York in English 1958, as What Do You Say, Dear?, Joslin's book was printed in French in New York in 1966, and in Paris in 1979. This first printing in Spanish. It was later translated into Danish and Swedish. Hanrahan A32. A delightful book of etiquette for boys and girls, humorously illustrated by Sendak. A glossary of words at the rear of the book. Not a common Sendak title.
