Chicago, IL: Scott, Foresman and Co, 1960. Cards. Very Good. Set 1: 9 matching cards, 11" x 8." Colorful images on bright white cards. Set 2: 14 flash cards, 12" x 7." Colorful images to front, corresponding black text to back. Some light tanning and soiling to this set. Old push-pin holes to most cards in both sets. Dick and Jane primers for school children reached the height of their popularity in the 1950s. The simple storyline and vibrant watercolor illustrations helped first graders acquire reading skills. "The Dick and Jane primers have also become icons of mid-century American culture." (Wikipedia). The present set of cards introduced students to new words and their corresponding images. Likely used in the classroom.
