New York: Appleton, 1856. Hardcover. Good +. Volume 1 (1856) 1118 pages. Volume 2 (1857) 998 pages. Title page on both shows "reprinted entire from the last corrected and greatly enlarged edition" and "thirty steel plate portraits" and "nearly sixteen hundred engravings on wood". Bound in 3/4 black leather with gold titles on spine. Marbled paper over boards are quite rubbed and some chips; couple of small scrapes on leather spine. Marbled endpapers and page edges. Books are straight and sturdy and unmarked.
