The first three volumes are about painters and paintings; and each volume has 60-70 pp. of text, followed by pages of artwork. The last two volumes of the series address artists and drawings, and the bios are interfiled with the illustrations. This set is missing volume 5, which covers surnames from Laer to Wyck. Still a terrific resource to be able to consult regularly.
