About This Item

Berlin: Verlag von Julius Springer, 1914. First Edition. Wraps. Good. First Edition. VIII, 84, [4 (ads)] pages. 8vo. Publisher's printed blue wrappers. Paper spine reinforced with old linen tape. With the accession stamp and embossed stamp of the NELA RESEARCH LABORATORY of the National Lamp Works of General Electric Co (received May 9, 1916). Wraps. Title, roughly translated, is "The quartz lamp, its development and its current status"

The NELA laboratory was founded in 1908 as the physical laboratory of the National Electric Lamp Association. The name was changed in 1913 to the [as here] NELA RESEARCH LABORATORY when the National Electric Lamp Association became the National Lamp Works of General Electric Co. In 1914 the laboratory branched out from pure research into some applied sciences and was headed by M. Luckiesh. (Science, 12 Aug 1920 Vol 52, Issue 1337 p. 150)

A nice association with a laboratory which no doubt found this item of great use at the time.
