About This Item

Switzerland: Walter-Verlag, 1966. 404 pgs. Very Good condition dark blue cloth hardcover, text is in German language. Very minor shelf wear, lightly foxed upper text block, internally clean and unmarked with tight binding. Father Pierre Teilhard de Chardin [1881-1955] was a Jesuit priest and paleontologist, hence both a theologian and a scientist. His writings reflect his philosophy, ranging from understanding humankind's place in the universe to the impact of scientific discoveries on traditional religious dogma, in particular the interdependent connection between the theory of evolution and the basic tenets of Christian faith. His manuscripts were banned from publication by his superiors during his lifetime, but were finally released to the world by a committee called the Frinds of Teilhard de Chardin. Originally published in 1959 in Paris as "L'Avenir de L'Homme", this is the German language edition [Lorenz Hafliger and Karl Schmitz-Moormann]. #2490.. Second Edition. Cloth Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo 5x8.25 Inches.
