Contains the complete texts of 2 lectures orig. delivered at the second annual Jefferson Lectures in the Humanities: 1) "The Founders: Jeffersonian Action and Faith,'' & 2) "The Inheritors: Modern Insight and Foresight." A FIRST EDITION, first Printing from 1974, in 125 pages with errata slip pasted to ffep. Hardcover book has matte black cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering & design to spine. Condition is downgraded to VG due to slight dampstaining to lower edges, affecting both boards & warping/lightly staining the lower page edges. Else, completely clean, binding strong & straight, pages creamy white; NO foxing.NO writing, underlining, or highlighting; not ex-lib. The unclipped DJ is VG+, marred only by same dampstain to bottom edge of back cover; NO chipping or fading or wear otherwise.
