About This Item

New York:: Morrow,, (2006.). SIGNED hardcover first edition -. Fine in fine dust jacket.. First printing. Another wild novel by this author who has been described as being "seriously wicked about humor." From the dust jacket: "Charlie Asher is a pretty normal guy. A little hapless, somewhat neurotic, sort of a hypochondriac. . . But Charlie's been lucky. He owns a building in the heart of San Francisco, and runs a secondhand store with the help of a couple of loyal, if marginally insane, employees. He's married to a bright and pretty woman who actually loves him for his normalcy. And she, Rachel, is about to have their first child." .... it seems that Charlie Asher has been recruited for a new job, an unpleasant but utterly necessary one: Death. It's a dirty job. But hey, somebody's gotta do it." INSCRIBED on the title page with the words 'live forever.' Pink illustrated endpapers. 387 pp.

Synopsis

A Dirty Job is the ninth novel by Christopher Moore, published in 2006. While reflecting the author's absurdist tendencies, the content of the novel draws in no small part from his own experiences in tending to the needs of close family and friends who were in the stages of dying.
