New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1976. 1st. Hardcover. Quarto. 3pp Introduction by Hilton Kramer. 120 prints reproduced in gravure (most full -page) from the original glass-plate negatives. Grey cloth in photo-illustrated dustjacket. A fine copy (lower corners lightly bumped) in near fine dustjacket (minor wear to extremities; short closed tear lower rear cover). Originally published in 1932 in the Parisian magazine Le Souire, now seen here in its entirety for the first time in 40 years. Kertesz, an Hungarian born photographer, created this series of women and, "... out of the dreamlike distortions he had perceived as a young man wathing swimmers move through the waters, these pictures evolved." - dustjacket flap.
