The book is a posthumous collection of stories that Lofting originally wrote during the 1920s for the Herald Tribune Syndicate but here first included in book form. The dust jacket cover reproduces in color the illustration "Who's that? Gub-Gub asked," from page 228. The front board reproduces the illustration "She listened thoughtfully" from page 135.
