London: Didier et Tennet, 1809. 1st Edition Thus. Hardcover. Near Fine. 6 volumes in 3, London reprint from the Didot edition (of 1799), 24 new plates by unknown engraver after the designs of Jean-Jacques-François Le Barbier and Claude Lefebvre. 16 mo, contemporary half calf over marbleized boards. Calf over spine blind stamped vertical laurel border front and rear, red leather spine labels in gilt. Printed at C. Spilsbury in Snowhill. Wonderfully preserved unsophisticated bindings, modest wear corners and bottom edge. Volume one shows a shallow loss spine head. Palau 52769. Uncomon ESTC lists a set with the British Library at St Pancras. The Cervnates digital project at the Cushing Library Texas A&M lists a mixed set, Volume 1 being the only original issue of this edition.
