Octavo; red cloth, with titles stamped in silver on spine; dustjacket; 154,[1]pp. Offsetting from flaps onto endpapers, a few small scuffs to rear cover, a few faint creases to preliminary pages; Very Good+. Dustjacket is oddly price-clipped, slightly shelfworn, with several short tears, shallow loss to crown, and a nickel-sized ink spot to lower rear panel; Very Good only. "In six large notebooks and a portfolio of more than a hundred drawings, Ludwig Bemelmans captured for himself the spirit of three trips to South America" (from front flap). The UK edition is preceded by the American edition published by Viking in 1941.
