London/ Paris/New York: Cassell and Company, 1904. Hardcover. Good+ (both volumes have light aging and soiling to boards, Volume 2 has heavy chipping along board edges, pages and plates lightly age toned but otherwise clear). Two volumes bound in half white vellum and green paper boards, black illustration on front covers, black title blocks with gilt lettering on spines, color illustrated end papers. Volume 1 has 2 bw illustrated frontispieces with tissue guard sheets, XXIV, 82 pp, XXXIX plates with guard sheets. Volume 2 has a bw frontispiece with tissue guard sheet, paged 83-183, plates numbered XL--LXXV with guard sheets. "Limited to one thousand numbered and registered copies." This copy is unnumbered. Trans. by Henry Francis Cary and illustrated with the designs of M. Gustave Doré. With critical and explanatory notes, life of Dante and chronology.
