Farrar and Rinehart, 1939-01-01. 1st. Hardcover. Very Good/Good+. The volume is bumped at the spine ends and bottom corners, has a hint of a spine lean, and the last 4 leaves were roughly cut open (text unaffected). The unclipped dust jacket, sleeved in mylar, is rubbed with fold and joint creases, chipped at the spine ends and corners, has a few closed tears (longest is 3/4" on the top of the rear panel), and there is a 1" abrasion on the rear panel affecting the beard area on the photograph of Rex Stout.
