About This Item
New York: William Morrow & Co.. Near Fine in Near Fine dj. (c.1990). Second Edition. Hardcover. [a nice clean book, tiny nick in top edge of rear board, no other significant wear; jacket shows just a touch of surface wear]. (B&W photographs) INSCRIBED briefly and SIGNED by the author/photographer on the half-title page. "A Gallery of the Celebrated with Commentary by the Equally Celebrated," proving mostly that the author had a lot of friends. The concept is undeniably fascinating, and it's most interesting to read, say, Roald Dahl's comments about Otto Preminger, or James Baldwin's thoughts regarding Marlon Brando, but the photographs accompanying these little essays are often unremarkable, the jacket-blurb claims of "deep insight and a sure professional touch" notwithstanding. (The original edition was published in 1966; this would appear to be an unaltered reprinting, rather than a "second edition" per se.) **** NOTE that additional postage charges will be assessed for international shipping of this heavy book; if this concerns you, please contact us for a shipping quote before placing your order. **** Signed by Author .
