About This Item

New York: Dodd, Mead and Company, 1921. First Edition. Hardcover. Lewis Freeman (photography). Small 4to. Pp. xx; 383. Frontis. photo. Illustrated throughout with photo plates. Blue blindstamped cloth lettered in gilt on front board and spine. Top edge a tad dust-soiled; a couple small dents on rear board. Please see photos. A bright, presentable copy. A harbinger of books devoted to the mighty Columbia River, Freeman documents his row-boat foray down the river -- before it was entirely tamed by damming -- with excellent prose. Many photographs depict his route downstream. The author's book on the Yellowstone was published the following year. SMITH, 3286. This copy now protected with a removable, clear mylar jacket.
