[Philadelphia], 1825. Original Wrappers. Good binding. Octavo. 16 pp. First edition. As issued, stitched into self-wrappers. Cover is generally soiled; five-digit number stamped on the first page; pencil note along the top of the first page; contemporary owner name in ink on the same page. Pressure stamp in the outer margin that is visible though indecipherable throughout most of the pamphlet, diminishing in the later leaves; additional stab holes in the inner margin from a modern conservation folder, now removed; two horizontal fold lines through the pamphlet.
Concerns dismissal of John Randel, contractor for the eastern section of the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal, by the Board of Directors and of his alleged mistreatment by Judge Benjamin Wright. Signed in type on p. 7, "Mathew Cary, Philadelphia, Oct. 5, 1825." Includes the following letter: "To the Directors of the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal" on pp. [9]-16, signed in type "Mathew Carey," dated 20 September 1825. This appeal went into three editions in 1825. Shoemaker 19945.
