About This Item
New York: Simon & Schuster, 1999. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Very Good/Fine. The third volume of the five volume series telling the story of Texas oilman Duane Moore (The Last Picture Show, Texasville, When The Light Goes & Rhino Ranch). Set in Thalia, small town bearing a marked resemblance to McMurtry's hometown of Archer City, Duane's story continues with Duane confronting depression in the midst of plenty. Duane can't seem to make sense of life anymore. He parks his pickup truck and begins walking and biking, then to abandon his family to live alone and begin psychoanalysis. First edition, first printing (with complete numberline). About 6 1/2 x 91/2 inches, 431 pages bound in blue paper-covered boards with brown backstrip and gold lettering on spine. The dustjacket's front panel shows "Larry" in white lettering and 'McMurtry" in black with title in black lettering. Back panel contains five blurbs praising first two volumes in series.A tiny, almost unnoticeable dent at upper end of front panel backstrip and two pages with small corner creases, o/w boards and text are clean, complete and unmarked. Dj shows only very slight rubbing and edgewear. Not price-clipped, no creasing, tearing or bumping. In spite of very minor flaws, this remains a collectable copy.
