Good. 281 p. + 1 p. of publisher's ads. 17 cm. 37 b&w figures as well as some smaller unnumbered illustrations. Cloth with gold impressing. Spine a bit faded, tears in spine ends, corners bumped, stains on rear. Small dampstain at bottom of title and first page of Preface. A few other marginal stains throughout. Bookplate on front pastedown.
Title continues: "Or, Guide to the Three Symbolic Degrees of the Ancient York Rite to the Degrees of Mark Master, Past Master, Most Excellent Master, and the Royal Arch. Explained and Interpreted by Copious Notes and Numerous Engravings.Details of Masonic initiation rituals, along with passwords and regalia." "Duncan's Ritual", as it is known among the Masons, has been republished numerous times. It includes the three basic degrees of the Ancient York Rite, and four additional advanced degrees. Illustrations show important details of the rituals, including gestures and symbolic pictures. Note bookplate designed by James Jervis Blomfield (1879-1951), Canadian artist and designer best known for his design of the coat of arms of Vancouver.
