About This Item

[Place of publication not identified]; [ Possibly : [Publisher not identified], [Possibly Self-Published], 1967. First Edition. Spiral Bound. Very Good. 8.5" x 11" x 1. FIRST EDITION, 1967. Spiral bound with a black comb and mint green paper covers. This is a 'thesis submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Bachelor of Music degree at Converse College', written by Julian Griffin. Printed on the recto side only, and appears it may be a facsimile, having originally been typed on a typewriter. The first page is an approval sheet, listing the following members of the committee: Eugene N. Crabb, Donald G. Henderson, Roger A. McDuffie, and Wesley Walton. This thirteen chapter thesis is divided into two parts: Kreisleriana Part I and II, of which topics reviewed are or Kappellmeister Johannes Kreisler's Musical Sufferings; Ombra Adorata; Thought on the High Value of Music; Beethoven's Instrumental Music; Highly Sporadic Thoughts; The Perfect Scene Shifter; Kreisler's Musical Poetic Club; Message from a Cultured Young Man; The Enemy of Music; Concerning a Saying of Sacchini's and So Called Effect in Music; Johannes Kreisler's Letter of Recommendation to an Apprentice, and of course, Kreisleriana I and II. Includes bibliography. 127 pp.

CONDITIN: Cover shows significant discoloration, but is still sturdy, and the textblock remains bright and free from creasing. Fascinating annotations, (presumed from the grading doctor or professor), are within the margins occasionally throughout in pencil. No scholastic grade is noted. A seemingly one of a kind work with only one other copy identified to date, this copy is quite an enduring testament to a music student's tireless work and interest. Additional photographs available upon request. Full refund if not satisfied.
