Lawrence, better known as, “Lawrence of Arabia.” In fact, there are many who consider this volume to be the first serious biography on the man that was devoid of the rampant sensationalism that plagued other volumes about his life. That being said, the author, Liddell Hart, still puts Lawrence on a high pedestal. Sir Basil Henry Liddell Hart (1895 – 1970) was an English soldier, military historian and military theorist. He is often credited with greatly influencing the development of armoured warfare, although some research casts some doubt on the extent of his influence upon the pre-war German military.
Thomas Edward Lawrence (1888 –1935) was an archaeologist and British Army officer renowned especially for his liaison role during the Sinai and Palestine Campaign, and the Arab Revolt against Ottoman Turkish rule of 1916–18. The breadth and variety of his activities and associations, and his ability to describe them vividly in writing, earned him international fame as Lawrence of Arabia, a title which was later used for the 1962 film based on his First World War activities.
