New York: Frederick A. Stokes Company, 1926. First Edition, Fourth Printing. This book is a first edition, fourth printing. Measuring approximately 7.5" x 5.25" with 307 numbered pages.
This book is in good minus condition. Moderate bumping to both ends of spine. Minor tearing to head of spine. Creasing down the middle of spine. Minor staining to both boards and all edges of textblock. Book is slightly cocked causing overbite. Front hinge cracked exposing mesh on the title page. Rear hinge cracked exposing mesh on rear pastedown.
The novel is set in the fictional Massachusetts town of Durham shortly after World War I. The Pentland family is rich and part of the upper class, but their world is rapidly changing.
