Heavy black cloth hardbound, paper label to spine, fore and bottom page edges untrimmed, many full-page portraits with tissue guards. All the usual library treatments, including call numbers and removed label on spine. Tape repairs to both interior hinges, with some shakiness to spine, but all holds firm. Covers rubbed, bumped, chipped, soiled and edgeworn. Otherwise, a very good first edition copy of this important history of Chicago.~PP~

Black cloth with paper title plates on spine. 521 numbered pp. Ex-library copy from the collection of The Virginia Library of the McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, with attendant bookplates, withdrawn stamps, and call number on spine. Title plates rubbed and chipped; ends of spines chipped and worn away, exposing board underneath. Front joint cracked; crack extends to hinge, exposing gauze. F.f.e.p. torn away from binding, but is still present. Binding split in two between pp. 232-233.
