This Resolution decreed that up to 1000 copies of this book be "used and given away by said grand commander to pioneers and veterans of the Indian wars, who have had the largest experience in the early history of Oregon and who pledge beforehand to him to write out and correct all errors and supply omissions, etc...". A good, solid copy of an increasingly scarce and important historical resource in Western Americana. Frances Auretta Fuller (Barritt) Victor (pen names: Florence Fane, Dorothy D.) (1826 - 1902) was an American historian and historical novelist. She has been described as "the first Oregon historian to gain regional and national attention." She was known for her books about the West and especially Oregon history.
