About This Item
[LGBTQ] [Pulp] Howard Browne writing under the pen name "John Evans." Halo in Brass. New York: Pocket Books 1950. A mass-market pulp paperback edition of the 1949 release. Cover art by Mike Ludlow depicts a blond, blue-eyed woman smoking. Tagline reads, "She expected her lover...but DEATH walked in." Halo in Brass is the third book in a series of Howard Browne mysteries. From the back: "Detective Paul Pine's routine investigation for a missing girl turns out to be a violent race with death. From rooming houses to mansions; from a night club to a twilight world of women without men... the search went on. And murder followed murder as Paul began to find out too much about people who didn't want their secrets spread around." Some chipping at top of front wrap. Vertical stress creases by spine, from where the book was opened during reading. Minor white blots on back wrap borders, not affecting back text or image. Otherwise bright and colorful covers, very good condition.
