"The Entomological Society of Ontario, having been founded in Toronto to encourage the study of insects, moved its headquarters to London in 1872. Soon after, in 1890, it produc ed four sections dedicated to the study of botany, ornithology, geology and microscopy. Thus there flourished in London, until 1906, a sort of informal Academy of Science wherein citizens of London could attend sessions for the study of i n s e c t s , p l ants, birds, rocks and mircroscopic objects.
