Hardback in dustwrapper. 20.5 × 13.5cm, 169pp. An authentic first-hand account of what it was to be working as a pupil on a Suffolk farm in the early 1930s. Early to Rise shows a Cobbett-like relishnfor the English countryside and characters. Stuffed full of incidents and stories - sometmes funny, sometimes tragic, the detailed accuracy of description makes this a warm but unsentimental document of an era which has gone forever. Condition: The book is in good plus condition, with some foxing to the pages' top edge but otherwise clean. The dustwrapper has been neatly price-clipped and worn to the edges.
