About This Item

England: Spear Works, Enfield,. Good+ with no dust jacket. 1935. Unknown. Card. 2 delightful complete Jigsaws in the original box. No Date shown, but In 1932, Spier (the firm founded by Jacob Wolf Spier in Nuremburg) set up a factory in Brimsdown, Enfield, Britain to avoid customs duties. With the rise to power of the Nazis and the Spier family being Jewish, some members of the family moved to Britain and subsequently Anglicised their name to Spear. The name 'Spear Works' as opposed to the later 'Spears' and the style of the children is very 1930s. Delightful period piece. No Illustrator noted. The box is very scraped around the edges but all is complete. Internally 2 Charming Childrens Jigsaws in 12 cardboard backed paper covered pictorial pieces. The 2 games separated by a piece of stiff cardboard. A couple of slight creases but overall the Jigsaws are excellent - Delightful. See Images. ; 8vo 7" to 8" tall .
