1st thus, Good to very good Full leather binding with gilt decoration to boards and spine. Boards and binding secure. Externally in only good condition with some loss to top of spine, rubbing to edges and spine and front board in particular. Corners bumped and leather worn. Internally very good with marbled end papers, neat original ownership details to first blank end paper. Some foxing to end papers otherwise only the occasional blemish. All edges of text block gilt. Please note additional postage and shipping charges will be required due to weight for both UK and non UK buyers.

This edition is founded upon Figuier's original french text but has been edited and enlarged to adapt it more suitable to a British readership and to bring it up to the then present standard of geographical knowledge. The work is a comprehensive survey of the configuration of the earth and the seas viewed from the standpoint of Physical Geography.
