About This Item

New York: The MacMillian Company "Any retrospect of the civilization of the United States during the century...neglected,,,the influence of german culture on the higher artistic and intellectual life of the nation." This statement is from the introduction to the book and it is a scholary treatise on the subject that actually is a fascinating read. In addition there is a letter written and signed from the author to a Mr. LeRoy E. Kimball at New York Universitry - dated March 6, 1917. The previous owner noted in pencil on the botom of the letter that the author died in berlin, 8/2/1939. The Recipient, according to the internet, was the author of a piece on James Wilson of Vermont - america's first globe maker. Book is in very good condition although there is a damaged spot on the back cover. The letter is pasted on the inside cover with the bookplate of Kimball. . Signed by Author. Hard Cover. Very Good,. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
