Originally appeared in Sir G.W. Dasent's `Popular Tales from the Norse' by P.C. Asbjornsen and J.I. Moe. "Nielsen acknowledged that his work was influenced by the art of the early Italian Renaissance, but most of all by oriental art and the art of the Middle East." [see: JOHNSON p.78]. An unusual combination of full page color plates in offset lithography, and the small and more numberers color lithograph plates within the text. Owner inscription front cover pastedown.
