Limited edition of 850 copies, 50 on japon de barjon paper and the rest, like this copy #485, on verge gothique de prioux. Outer wrapper has a tipped on color plate and a whisper of wear at edges. Interior pages are in fine condition, with French text, tipped on color plates, black-and-white bordered illustrations, and drawings. Raoul Brunon was killed in World War I. Jean, his brother, carried on Raoul's military passion and eventually published this book and others based on some of his Raoul's early collections. Text is in French. Tall 4to. 79 pp. From the estate of Donald Skinner, Canadian military collector extraordinaire.

The 1854 edition of Jacob Abbott's The History of Madame Roland, part of the Abbott's Histories series. Red cloth, blindstamped on both front and back. Gilt on spine. Famed full-color frontispiece is intact, as is tipped-in protective tissue. All eight B&W engravings are intact, including frontispiece. (Plate on page 97 has a deckled bottom edge.)Spine is discolored and darker than rest of jacket, with slight wear on heel and top. Pages are age tanned and have small stains. Two of the pages are uncut.All four endpapers are significantly discolored with a black waxy substance (see photos), something like crayon.
