Lloyd's farming manual is filled with interesting observations on the management and operations of the family farm with chapters on the clearing land, the cultivation of the soil, the placement of particular crops, the use of fertilizers, and seasonal requirements for the maintenance of land. He describes the cultivation of grains, fruits and fruit trees, potatoes, and local garden crops. Good chapter on grape vines and wine making.
