About This Item
Signed. First Edition, first printing. Fine / fine. Laid in flyer from the Sixth Floor Museum signed by Eddie Barker, Judge Joe B. Brown, Jr. and Dallas Police Detective Jim Leavelle. Forward by Walter Cronkite. The late Eddie Barker was a local TV reporter for KRLD (CBS) in Dallas when President Kennedy was assassinated. He was the first person to announce the assassination, just minutes before Walter Cronkite announced it on national television. He was also the first person to interview Marina Oswald. The late Judge Joe B. Brown was a Justice of the Peace at that time. He ordered the autopsy of Officer J. D. Tippitt after Oswald had gunned him down. Judge Brown also issued search warrants for Oswald's house and Jack Ruby's apartments and businesses. Detective Jim Leavelle was the Dallas police officer who was handcuffed to Oswald when Jack Ruby killed him in the basement of Dallas police headquarters. That shooting was shown live on TV and Det. Leavelle is the guy in the light suit and hat in the Pulitzer Prize winning photograph shown around the world. All three men signed a flyer from Jan. 24, 2007, at the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza, in a program titled 'A Conversation with Jim Leavelle and Eddie Barker'. I'm pretty sure that's Eddie Barker on the far right, with the microphone, in the famous photograph. There is also a Sixth Floor Musem brochure laid in, as well as the business card of the public relations manager. The book is in fine, like new condition, as are all the laid in pieces. In addition to the signed, laid in flyer, Eddie Barker has signed on the half title page (no inscription).
