LONDON: FABER & FABER, 1938 Lilac cloth with light blue title block and gilt titles to spine. 320pp, Frontis + 11 other plates as called for. History of the "Modern Athens" studying her growth from the time of the Roman invasion through the centuries of war and internecine strife. 1st Edition copy with dust jacket. Good / VG (Book- lliquid stains to cloth ingressing up to 50 cms from bottom edge, end papers foxed with a little foxing to edges of book block the paper of which is also a little tanned. Ink gift insc. to ffep. Binding sound and square with no other defects. The book has been downgraded from VG because of the liquide stains to cloth which are obviously not visible under the jacket. The later is price clippedwith a little rubbing and taning but is remarkably complete and clean for a pre war book.grey line down spine is a ribbon illustration not a tear or loss. now in clear easily Removable proprietary protective cover .
