Text is clean and unmarked, binding tight. Cover is clean and shows little signs of wear, bookseller label inside back cover. 45 This is a memoir of Dury's days as a young man working on the Comstock Lode. He left school to strike it rich on the load and ended up as a crusading journalist through the years the lode was being manipulated by the hanky panky of corrupt officials. He later moved to San Francisco where he worked as edition or the Call as well as Hearts San Francisco Examiner. His associations with Mark Twain, Ambrose Bierce, Jack London, Robert L. Stevenson, Bret Hart and others forwarded his journalist career. This is a collection of his stories, memories of various historical events of those heady days when Silver was King. Appendix, Index, 343 pages.
