Daylesford, PA: A.Edward Newton, 1935. 1st Edition. Soft cover. Fine. A terrific collection of 21 items, made up of primarily of the small blue pamphlets with stiff paper wraps that Newton sent out as Christmas presents to friends, family and a limited number of subscribers. The entire collection is from the library of T. Edward Ross, a close personal friend of Newton's, and Pennsylvania neighbor, who at the time held one of the most important collection of bibles. This included Medieval manuscripts, early printed books from the hand-press era, as well as later printed editions. This bible collection was donated to the University pf Pennsylvania upon Ross's death. The pamphlet collection has many items signed and inscribed by Newton, and/or his wife, to Ross, and four come with the original hand-addressed mailing envelopes. Also included is the important First Editions of both Three Songs for St. Cecilia's Day by W.H. Auden and History of Moses by Robert Louis Stevens that were published by Newton in the same blue pamphlet format. "Moses" is inscribed by Newton. The collection comes in a custom made folding box with Newton's name stamped on the top. All pieces are square, tight and clean throughout with little or no wear. Items include: John Mytton. 1924 My Library. 1926 A Reprimand and What Became Of It. 1927 Edwin Forrest and His Noble Creation. 1928 Nelson. 1928. Men and Ghosts of Gough Square. 1930.
