Coloured frontispiece, 16 b/w plates, 3 maps. A clean copy. Dust jacket shows wear on corners and edges, 2 two inch tears. Wilson was one of the 4 men who reached the South Pole in January 1912 together with Captain Scott. This copy is signed by the author on the flyleaf: "To my very esteemed friend A.B. Gilmour as a slight token of gratitude and in memory of 27th May 1940 G.S.".
