About This Item
NA. Very Good. N.d., mid-18th Century almost certainly, a hand-colored design on a thin paper which was meant to have been folded and attached to the spokes of a fan but wasn't. The paper is a half-circle, with the length 54 cm, the height, 27 cm. The image is relatively small, measuring about 24 by 7 cm. The imagery is a pleasant body of water, a swath of grass on its far bank, and a small complex of buildings which to us looks as if it might be a monastery since there are three towers, but one can interpret the buildings as just a small hamlet as well. Some light soiling at the edges. The paper itself is not entirely flat -- it has some waviness -- but it could be handsomely mounted, matted and frames.
