About This Item

Mexico City: Imprenta de Aguilar Hijos, 1883. Good.. 190pp. Contemporary quarter calf and marbled boards. Spine heavily cracked and chipped, hinges tender, the whole previously dampstained, affecting the first half of the volume. Minor soiling and toning else. Scarce Mexican cook book, noted in the prefatory matter as having collected the best recipes from European and Mexican cook books. Recipes are written in paragraph form, and include Sopa de Polenta, Pierna de Vaca, Albondigas de Bacalao, Guisado de Pescado a la Yankee, Jericaya de Naranja de China, and more. Noted on the title page as the second edition, corrected and enlarged (though we find no prior works by this title in OCLC). Four copies in OCLC, at New York Public Library, Los Angeles Public Library, UC San Diego, and the University of Texas at San Antonio.
