About This Item
Paris: Galerie du Haut Pavé., 1962. First edition. Folding sheet.. Very Good. 12mo. three panel folding sheet. essay in French by Carlos Antonio Areán González Four b/w plates. Thumbed. Frank el Punto whose real name was Frank Ludwig Schaefer (born January 17, 1909 in Mainz, February 7, 1972 in Sant Antoni de Portmany (San Antonio de Ibiza)) was a German painter and graphic designer who had settled in Ibiza from 1955. He was known for his abstract, at the same time lyrical gesturalism in painting. His jocular stage name "Frank el Punto" he used since his arrival in Ibiza. He is derived from his first name "Frank L." for "Frank Ludwig" by omitting the surname "Schaefer". The stage name also refers to his lyrical and slick style of painting and associates a closeness to the outstanding Spanish painter El Greco. Schaefer has signed his works from the time in Ibiza with "El Punto".
