A tight, clean, sound copy in color wraps with very minor overall shelf wear with some light creasing on the spine plus there is some light creasing on the front cover at the extreme top right and bottom right corners and on the back cover at the extreme top left and bottom left corners plus there is some light scattered surface chipping along the spine edges plus there is some very light yellowing of the outside paper edges plus there are several dogeared pages plus the book is very slightly shelf cocked. A book about the author's exploration of a the southern beginnings of a 'road to the north' planned by British colonialists and imperialists. It involves travels in the area of the north-western border of the Republic of South Africa, Botswana, and the west-central region of Zimbabwe and examines the history of the region. this includes conflict between the Boers and Britons as well as the Tswana and Ndebele. There are also stories of noted imperialists Cecil Rhodes, David Livingstone, and Lobengula.
